Report: Watchdog blocks Swiss service Protonmail on threats mailout
MOSCOW, Jan 29 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has started blocking access to Swiss mail service with encryption Protonmail, created by employees of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, on request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday on its website.
The decision was made because the service was used for mailouts of false mining messages, the watchdog said.
Protonmail has repeatedly refused to provide the authority with the data to be included into the register of organizers of information distribution in the Internet and information on administrators of the email boxes used to send out threats.
Earlier in January, the communications service blocked Dutch mail service StartMail, which said it will contest the move.
